open at around 8 p.m. like

real thing is going on only
after about 10 pm and all
the way through 2 am, on
most nightclubs, discos, go
go bars and so on there is
no cover charge , no dress
code, no stress -- just
dancing, drinking, smoking
(whatever) watching and
after may a happy chilling

everyone goes

Nightlife became
a big issue in Phuket about 50 years ago when the

enjoy the open minded atmosphere on great Phuket

least 200 years before, somehow similar to Penang
Malaysia about 700 km further down in the south.

on by development activity, money poured in from all
over Thailand, making the local people nervous since
this is creeping into their habitat. New hotels,
condominiums and nightlife entertainment venues

whatever it immediately turns into a snowball
effect, because if one Thai person see a other
making that kind of investment, 10 others around the
corner just try to do the same, not understanding
that if there is enough business for maybe two,
doesn't means its enough business for ten, but who
cares about tomorrow ? Nightlife entertainment
venues open or being remodeled all the time, its
very dynamic and sometimes you ask yourself where
this guys have all the money from since to open a
veritable nightlife spot needs quite a lot of
investment, even into Thailand nightlife where
everything is much cheaper than in Europe or similar

Some newer hotel and shopping malls such as
Jungceylon complex at Patong spurred commercial
activity and a consistent stream of customers moves
from one place to the other within maybe 200 meters,
as it is in Patong, you can see this better at the

The restaurant, bar and nightlife industry
for hungry Thai girls and others in Phuket doesn't
look like reaching any saturation point soon, demand
increase exponentially ever year, the latest tourist
stream comes from Russia and the other former Soviet
republics like Kazakhstan etc.. All grim looking
people the Thai don't really know very much what to
do with them, since they don't speak Thai,
naturally, but mostly also not English, so no
conversation in "Thaiglish" and what most of the
Thais around find very strange is, they never smile,
if you don't believe ask a Thai.

are better, there are
thousands of Thai people
without a job somewhere in
the north of Thailand they
call Isaan People, who just
wait to get a job in
Thailand's southern tourism
industry and where should
all this beauties go to make
some money with the "farang"

European and Asian food. Swanky-looking
nightlife spots in Phuket open and close
continuously and the real good stuff is
the simple one. Sitting down at the
fringe of one of the markets at Phuket
down town where they still serve friend
fish, (around 40cm)) in a excellent
sauce, vegetables and rice for US$ 7,-
is maybe better than a swanky one in an
upscale "fresstemple" elsewhere for US$
30,-.
